# SAIF.Business.Policy overview

`SAIF.Business.Policy` (assembly title `PolicyCommon`) is a leaf-level domain/business component library for the policy domain in the `Claims.BOF.Web.LegalMaintenance` repository. It supplies policy-domain vocabulary, hazard-group reference data, scalar policy facts, and code-table lookups to the components layered above it.

## Purpose
- Provide code⇄enum translation (`Enums`) and shared literal constants (`Constants`) for the policy domain, plus contracts (`iPeriodRatingInfo`, `iPolicyPeriodBase`, `IPolicyHeaderDataProvider`) implemented by consumers.
- Retrieve hazard-group reference data as read-only BOF business objects (`clsHazardGroup`/`clsHazardGroupCollection`).
- Expose scalar policy facts (effective/expiration/anniversary dates, market type, premium-history set id, minimum premium, ownership system) via direct application-layer SQL/stored-procedure calls in `PolicyInformation`.
- Maintain cached code-table lookups (`BenefitJurisdictions`, `ManualClassTypes`) through `CodeMaps`.
- `SAIF.Business.View.Policy` is the sole in-repo consumer, reaching the `LegalMaintenance` WebForms front end transitively.*

## Responsibilities
